I just got back from North India, and have some time to think about what to grow in the coming Australia Spring (September). I don't have clue as of yet, mainly because I'm so reflective about each and every part of my gardening experience that I want it to match the season I'm in personally. One of my main principles, drawn from last year, is to not let my emotions or dreams drive me. I lost so many plants because I had no self-control at the store, and insisted upon trying to grow too many things at once, as well as very difficult plants. With that I'm hoping to explore a bit of a minimalistic approach this year, that sticks to some basic plants that are lower maintenance.
Another principle, which I'm uncertain on how to live out fully as of yet, due to the fact that I only use what people give me, would be to use lots of compost, as well as good mulch. I had good mulch last year, but without the compost everything suffered. If that is going to be an accurate reflection of my personal life, then this season won't be very much fun, because it will be a utilization of "death" from previous seasons.
There are more principles, which are yet to be thrown in, because it's just planning time. I'm waiting for the winter to end here and wanted to write this just so that if you're still wanting to read this, you can know that I plan on continuing. Oh if you're bored as well, google pothole gardening. I want to get into it, but Australia's infrastructure is too good to have major potholes.
Peace
